Gaza Attack a Marked Failure for the United Nations

Miguel D’escoto Brockmann, the president of the UN General Assembly, termed Israel’s ground offensive in Gaza was a “monstrosity” and a marked failure for the United Nations.
He said:
“I think it’s a monstrosity; there’s no other way to name it. Once again, the world is watching in dismay the dysfunctionality of the Security Council.”
The Security Council once again failed to reach an agreement as US once agained blocked any consensus during the late-night emergency meeting. US blames Hamas for all the violance in Gaza stating Hamas must stop smuggling arms into …

Gaza, Israel and World

After eight days of bombing blitz killing more than 400 hundreds Palestinins and wreaking widespread destruction, Israel’s ground forces has invaded Gaza for ground assault. Accroding to reports has fought ‘fierce battles’ with hammas fighters.  Israel is using its right of self defence which Palestinians donot have.
The way world leaders and United Nation has reacted so far on this Israeli massacre in Gaza, it speaks of double standards on terrorism. No matter how condemnable firing of rockets by Hamas in Israel is, Israel’s reaction cannot be justified at all. However, …

Moral Corruption – ‘Youth and Sex’

Sheikh Khaled Abdelhamid El Azhary
Undoubtedly Youth is the most impressionable age. It means not only a soul saved, but a life saved too. It means that one’s best days can be dedicated to the glory of God. Allah will ask us about our age and about our youth — Allah promised the paradise for youth who devout their times and health for the sake of Allah
The message we are delivering here targets the role of the family (i.e. the parents) not the society. As I mentioned at the first khutba …

Monster in the Mirror Part-6

The Monster in the Mirror
Arundhati Roy
How should those of us whose hearts have been sickened by the knowledge of all of this view the Mumbai attacks, and what are we to do about them?
There are those who point out that U.S. strategy has been successful inasmuch as the United States has not suffered a major attack on its home ground since 9/11. However, some would say that what America is suffering now is far worse.
If the idea behind the 9/11 terror attacks was to goad America into showing its true …

Monster in the Mirror Part-5

A Shadowy History of Suspicious Terror Attacks
Arundhati Roy
Though one chapter of horror in Mumbai has ended, another might have just begun. Day after day, a powerful, vociferous section of the Indian elite, goaded by marauding TV anchors who make Fox News look almost radical and left-wing, have taken to mindlessly attacking politicians, all politicians, glorifying the police and the army, and virtually asking for a police state.
It isn’t surprising that those who have grown plump on the pickings of democracy (such as it is) should now be calling for a …

Monster in the Mirror Part-4

Releasing Frankensteins
Arundhati Roy
Thanks largely to the part it was forced to play as America’s ally, first in its war in support of the Afghan Islamists and then in its war against them, Pakistan, whose territory is reeling under these contradictions, is careening toward civil war.
As recruiting agents for America’s jihad against the Soviet Union, it was the job of the Pakistani Army and the ISI to nurture and channel funds to Islamic fundamentalist organizations. Having wired up these Frankensteins and released them into the world, the U.S. expected it could …
