American Muslims took part actively in the 2008 US presidential election with large turnout. According to a survey, majority of the American Muslims voted for Obama. Although Obama was called a Muslim to smear his political compaign to presidential race, Collin Powel defended American Muslims by saying what is wrong in being a Muslim in this country.
The survey also concluded that Muslims are now increasingly voting based on issues and not base their votes on party. This is a good sign for American Muslims and shows that Muslims are basing their vote on the issues and current situation and not just blindly on party.
