Canadian Tire way of doing business

9 November 2008 No Comment

Canadian Tire way of doing businessI had to visit local Canadian Tire store in Ottawa to purchase a planter set that was on special for my mother in law. The store had planter set that looked different from the picture in the weekly store flyer.  The one which I liked had a third piece of the planter from some other coloured set. So I asked if I can get a a markdown cause it was not a complete set. To my surprise for that small decision, store manager Mr. Rick had to be called. The store manager offered me $5.oo off the sale price for only two peices. I asked three peices of miss matched planter set with $5.00 off. The Canadian Tire store manager told me No he will not loose the money by giving all the three peices. In other words he preferred to loose a customer to keep $5.00 in pocket. If that is the way the store manager of a Canadian Tire store does business, then imagine how the other employees would treat the customers.

I have not had good customer experience with Canadian tires anyway. Once I applied for Canadian Tire Advantage Card and guess what I kept on receiving cards one after one even though I complained and cancel those.  I asked for a written explanation why I was receiving those Canadian Tire credit cards about 12 months ago. I never received one yet. I requested again and I was told the letter was sent but might have been lost in mail and one will be set to you again. It has been more than 4 months I am still waiting for the explaination. It is beyond my comprehension how the letter will be lost in mail twice.  None of the bills for credit cards lost in the mail. Why would this particular letter will be lost. The only reason I can think of is that it was never sent.

Next time if I have to go to a Canadian Tire store, I will ask myself why should I give Canadian Tire my business?
