Bush gets store greeter job offer
George W Bush is back in Dallas after moving out of White House and he did not even have to wait for a job offer.
Elliott’s Hardware published an open letter to former President George W. Bush on Thursday, inviting him to apply for a store greeter position now that he’s becoming a Dallas resident again. The tongue-in-cheek letter to Bush from Kyle R. Walters, president and chief executive of Elliott’s, appeared in The Dallas Morning News and its commuter-oriented sister publication, Quick. The ad showcasing the letter was accompanied with a replica store name tag with “W” already filled in.
“We’re confident that your experience working in your own family business, as well as your people skills developed through years of meeting with foreign dignitaries would make you an excellent candidate for the position,” Walters wrote. Walters told The Associated Press the playful letter was mailed Wednesday and that he was “anxiously awaiting” a reply.
“I guess we just knew he was moving back to town and thought it would be a good fit for him,” said Walters, who wrote to Bush that many Elliott’s greeters are retired corporate leaders. The letter offers flexible scheduling, ample parking for him and his security detail, a short commute (seven miles) and an employee discount.
Rob Saliterman, a Bush spokesman in Dallas, said the former president appreciates the welcome home but declined to comment further. (Source: Chron)
Surely W. Bush’s experience in White House would be very helpful in doing his new job if he accept it. After all he has been meeting/greeting others for 8 years and reading the script and obeying the employer’s intstruction should be no problem for him.
