400 Killed and Thousands Injured Due to Earthquake in China

About 400 people have been confirmed dead and about 10,000 people were injured in the quake of at least 6.9-magnitude which also disrupted telecommunications, knocked out electricity and triggered landslides in the north-western province of Qinghai.
“The injured are everywhere in the street, a lot of people are bleeding from head wounds,” Xinhua quoted another official, identified as Zhuohuaxia, as saying from the town of Jiegu, seat of the Yushu government.

Renowned Islamic Scholar Dr. Israr Ahmed Passed Away in Pakistan

Renowned religious scholar and founder of Tanzeem-e-Islami Dr Israr Ahmed breathed his last in Lahore, Pakistan early morning of April 14, 2010. As a result of his death, the world of Islam lost a luminary.
Dr Israr Ahmed, 78, was suffering from backache and diabetes and was sick for the last two weeks.

Pakistan Urges Non-Discriminatory Access to Civil Nuclear Technology

“We urge all relevant forums to give Pakistan access to nuclear technology for peaceful uses, in a non-discriminatory manner, to meet its growing demand for energy,” Pakistan informed the Nuclear Security Summit which is being attended by top leaders of some 47 countries.
